This year Kitchen + Bathroom at May Design Series will play host to a new and brilliant concept: ‘Big Thinking Small Spaces’.
A dedicated area to space-saving bathroom trends, demonstrating to visitors that even with smaller, more demanding spaces, you can easily meet customer desire for beautiful design.
The feature will be edited by Grahame Morrison – a regular on the Kitchen and Bathroom scene with over 25 year’s industry experience, Grahame is the ideal candidate to bring together the market leaders in iconic bathroom design. Brands on display at the show pioneering the way in the space-saving design are Roman, Ideal Standard, Duravit, Kaldewei, RAK, Laufen, Roca, VitrA, Crosswater and Aquacabinets.
Product highlights include Concept Space by Ideal Standard. This innovative range incorporates slim basins and compact toilet units ideal when shaving off those precious centimetres that can make all the difference to user comfort in small or awkward spaces.
Duravit will showcase Open Space – the shower partition that promise to enlarge the look and feel of a room in even the most compromising of spaces. Duravit’s forward-thinking designs comprise two large self-locking glass doors which are fitted to a translucent design frame; after showering these doors can simply be folded against the wall, avoiding the unsightly look of protruding rails. The tap fittings and shower hose are cleverly concealed making the bathroom appear much larger than it really is.
Renowned for their innovative design to suit a range of budgets, Roca will display their Mini collection - a series of versatile bathroom interior storage solutions perfect when space is of the essence. Pioneers in style, Kaldewei will showcase Bassino, a clever minimised bathing option for bath and shower lovers – in one.
VitrA will be bringing their Elegance brassware collection, both exclusive to the show and new to the UK. With classic bevelled edges, unfussy detailing and solid design – the taps are available in Chrome, Copper and Gold finishes for that minimal touch.
Other inventive products that can be seen at the show include, Laufen Pro, Roca in Tank and VitrA Water Jewels to name a few.
Andrew Vaughan, Brand Director for the show said: “With dwelling spaces – especially in cities – becoming ever smaller, there is a greater challenge for retailers, architects, interior designers and contract specifiers to meet the need for inspiring, functional yet compact design. Visitors to May Design Series can simply wander through our time-saving Editor’s Choice of bathroom products, incorporating some of the best brands paving the way in space-saving design bought to you in one easy space.”
Roger Kyme, CEO at Ripples said: “Small bathrooms in Britain are a fact of business life and solving these issues as a retailer is something that we take great pride in. Designing a bathroom is a collaborative process: and new features like Big Thinking, Small Spaces only serve to help smooth that process and highlight the best in innovation – we’ll be sure to take a look at the show.”
Robert Levien, one of the UKs successful bathroom designers from Ideal Standard showed his support for the feature and commented: “We are blessed with small bathrooms in the UK; the average size is only 3.5sqm. Many companies are finding solutions to making the maximum use of the available space in our bathrooms, in particular now through furniture. After many years of thinking about this I have come to the conclusion that it’s all about the corners that is where space is underutilised in the bathroom.”
May Design Series will take place at London’s ExCeL from 18-20 May this year.
