Guardian clear float glass is manufactured using the latest advances in glass making technology. During the float glass manufacturing process, molten glass, at approximately 1100°C, is poured continuously from the furnace onto a large bath of molten tin. It then floats on the tin, spreading and forming a controlled level surface. The thickness of the glass is controlled by the speed at which the slowly solidifying glass ribbon is drawn through the tin bath. After which the glass is transported about 120 meters through the annealing lehr, here, the tensile thstresses are set in the glass, and the finish is completely flat with virtually parallel surfaces. This makes float glass the ideal product for architectural facades, and all other flat glass applications.
