Five young people have commenced their Prince’s Trust ‘Get into Construction’ placements on site at The Diamond project being delivered for the University of Sheffield.
Balfour Beatty Project Director Allan Grantham and Stephen Beck from the University of Sheffield’s faculty of Engineering were on site to welcome them. They will be given work experience in a live site environment, which will give them a basis for a career in construction.
The students James Hilditch, Connor Lane, Lizzie Gladwin, Brad Rotchell, and Scott Wood (pictured), will be working with the project team on the mechanical and electrical installations, getting first-hand experience of what is involved on a large scale project.
Some will also be working with the supply chain partner delivering the partitioning installation. One member of the group has joined the Balfour Beatty delivery team to gain experience in Engineering and Project Management.
The students have already completed two weeks in Sheffield College where they received their CSCS cards to work on site, and will now complete two weeks of work experience.
