Visitors to many of the regular trade exhibitions around the UK are heading for the Wilo UK stand – first and foremost of course, to see the excellent range of high efficiency pumps manufactured by the leading pump and pumping systems manufacturer – but also in the hopes of purloining one of the company’s excellent rucksacks.
Wilo rucksacks have become a feature of most HVAC exhibitions in the UK and it’s difficult to attend a show without seeing large numbers of visitors heading for the exits with all the bits and pieces they’ve collected at the show securely carried in a bright green and grey rucksack.
In 2012, Wilo asked installers to send their photographs with their ruck sack in far flung and unusual places – to add to the Wilo web site. The competition ran from September to December 2012 and Wilo presented a prize to the person submitting a photo of their rucksack in what they believed to be the most interesting – or outrageous - place on the planet – or slightly optimistically, beyond.
The company has just announced the winner for this competition. Richard Fuell from renewable installation company Chris Rudge Renewable Power in Exeter, took his Wilo rucksack with him to China on a holiday and provided a photo of said rucksack both on the Great Wall of China and being enviously looked at by the Terracotta Army.
Sadly, whilst the Great Wall was visible from space according to contacts in the CIA, the rucksack was not, but the photo was worth the first prize in the competition and Wilo’s Morgan Ross recently delivered the first prize of a stunning mountain bike to Richard at his office in Exeter.
The bike would have been perfect for cycling along the Great Wall of China, but Richard will content himself with riding it from the offices along the excellent cycle paths installed in Exeter to get to and from the city centre.
“We only have a limited number of rucksacks to giveaway at any show we attend and we don’t take them to all exhibitions or trade mornings but this enhances their value significantly and we see disappointed installers at one show arriving early at our stand at the next show to ensure they get theirs. They’ve developed a serious following of their own! Congratulations to Richard for winning this year’s award – we look forward to even more outrageous photos of our rucksacks in 2013.”
