Industry-leading system supplier VEKA plc has donated a laptop to soldiers from the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment which will allow the troops to communicate with their families, while on duty in Afghanistan.
The PVC-U system supplier was one of five local businesses to donate computer equipment worth £3,000, including five laptops, webcams, digital projectors and a notepad computer.
Local soldiers from the Regiment were presented with the equipment by the Mayor of Burnley at a VIP reception held at Burnley Town Hall, before they start active duty in the next few months.
VEKA's Sales and Marketing Director Colin Torley said: “We are delighted to be involved in providing laptops for our brave troops. All the computer equipment donated means that they can now keep in touch with their loved ones while they are serving abroad.”
