A success story of the health industry, Spire Healthcare, continues its commitment to patient care in terms of treatment and environment with the redevelopment of the Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital.
Quadrant Carpets has worked with architect Sonnemann Toon to supply 320m2 of Powerbond Haphazard for the transformation of outpatient areas within the site.
After the architect won a design competition to lead interior design of the estate wide refurbishment programme for the healthcare provider, it undertook an extensive and rigorous search for the appropriate flooring that would match the concept of subtle corporate level quality, with the technical specification required for clinical environments. Over a six-month period the list of carpet suppliers was reduced down to one name, Quadrant Carpets.
Agata Zamasz, Sonnemann Toon stated, "There were many carpet solutions that matched the project's technical specification, but not the quality design element. Our concept is to provide the patient with a far greater feeling of luxury in the reception, waiting rooms and the medical areas that were involved in this project. Quadrant Carpets were able to demonstrate a solution that offered this elusive combination, and our account manager understood our needs and provided superb support. "
Quadrant Carpets proposed the Powerbond Haphazard range as the solution, which delivered the wall-to-wall impervious barrier demanded by this challenging healthcare environment. The carpet was subjected to a thorough two-stage testing process to ensure that the choice matched the corporate requirements and received excellent feedback from the main contractor for the project.
Powerbond Haphazard was developed with hospital environments as a key market and is manufactured using high quality yarns thermofused to a closed-cell cushioned backing to ensure the carpet performs flawlessly throughout its 25-year guaranteed life cycle.
Quadrant Carpets facilitated supply of the carpet to the project by local stocking to ensure availability on short lead times, which helped keep the installation timescales on track.
Agata Zamasz concluded, "Initially the project team were investigating carpet tiles as the solution and it was Quadrant Carpets that recommended the roll version of Powerbond for this project. We have been very impressed with their support right through the process, from supplying samples and product details, product stocking and their involvement in the process of delivering the project. Our account manager was available whenever needed and was hands on throughout the installation of the flooring in the various environments."
