MULTI-MILLION-POUND REGENERATION PROGRAMME GRANTED PLANNING PERMISSION

An exciting plan to revitalise communities and create dozens of affordable homes is set to go full steam ahead now that planning permission has been granted by Erewash Borough Council.

Three Valleys Housing will begin construction work on around 40 new affordable homes at Town Street, Sandiacre, in June. Another project at nearby Hart Lea will start on site in April, with nine new affordable homes replacing a former sheltered scheme.

Part of a regeneration programme, it is the first new build by Three Valleys Housing since the housing association was established 11 years ago. Demolition work is currently underway at both sites to clear empty properties that had become outdated and unpopular. The new homes will breathe new life into these neighbourhoods.

Three Valleys Housing joined East Midlands Housing Group, one of the largest groups of housing associations in the region, last year, following the appointment of a new managing director at Three Valleys Housing, Sue Coulson.

She said: “I am delighted we have been given the go-ahead for this regeneration programme. The new homes will be of a high standard with low running costs, which suit people’s needs. This programme will also help to meet local demand for good quality affordable homes, and it will create jobs and training opportunities for local people.”

As part of the planning permission conditions, Three Valleys Housing will run an archaeological survey during the demolition process.

Three Valleys Housing has been involving residents in the programme from the start, with regular public consultations and information events held at nearby Sandiacre Football Club, and local schoolchildren designing artwork to decorate hoardings around the sites.
