Knauf Insulation has recently donated 210m2 of its Earthwool loft roll insulation in 100mm and 150mm thicknesses, with help from leading interior building products distributor CCF, to the BBC’s hit TV programme DIY SOS, to provide new fit for purpose premises for registered charity Little Miracles.
Little Miracles is a parent led support group and charity for families that have children with additional needs, disabilities and life limiting conditions in Peterborough.
After out-growing its small semi-industrial space where it held daily sessions for families to chat, play, socialise and engage in activities, Little Miracles was gifted with a two and half acre site which included a 1970’s prefab building, which was unfortunately not suitable for the charity.
DIY SOS stepped in to demolish the building and built an entirely new centre, which includes full wheelchair access, a dedicated sensory room, space for counselling, kitchen facilities and more.
The programme’s production team approached Knauf Insulation for support and the manufacturer was happy to donate its Earthwool Loft Roll, which was supplied by leading distributor CCF, to help improve the thermal and acoustic performance of the building. This lightweight economic insulation has a thermal conductivity of 0.044W/mK and has a classified fire rating of Euroclass A1 to BS RN ISO 13501-1.
The insulation rolls are manufactured with ECOSE® Technology, which uses a formaldehyde-free binder based on rapidly renewable materials instead of petro-based chemicals and is up to 70 per cent less energy intensive - enhancing its environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance. ECOSE Technology also produces a ‘super-soft’, easier to handle and cut mineral wool with a natural brown colour.
