Ibstock, the UK’s largest brickmaker, consolidated its industry leading position at the prestigious 2012 Brick Awards.
It has maintained its excellent record of success at the annual event with nine of its 2012 projects selected as winners across half of the 13 competitive categories.
The awards - run by the Brick Development Association (BDA) - are the premier showcase for the brick industry and Ibstock’s 2012 performance, which saw its highest ever total of shortlisted entries, was recognised at a stunning evening of success at the glittering event held at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel in London.
Winning projects which vividly highlighted the aesthetic appeal, versatility and performance characteristics of Ibstock’s extensive product range, covered a broad spectrum from Best International Project, through to Innovative Use of Brick and Clay Products, Best Commercial Building and Best Refurbishment and Renovation Project.
In addition, two Ibstock projects received judges commendations and a further project that used Ibstock bricks won an award within the hotly contested Specialist Contractor of the Year category.
The award-winning Ibstock projects were:
• Best International Project – House on Mount Anville
• Best Housing Development 26+ units – Student Accommodation, Somerville College
• Innovative use of Brick and Clay Products – West Hampstead Station
• Best Commercial Building – Science Studios
• Best Refurbishment and Renovation project – Kitfield Avenue
• Volume House Building – three projects at Barratt East and North London
• Specialist Contractor of the Year – a project using Ibstock bricks won an award in this category.
