Ibstock, the UK’s largest brickmaker, has once again demonstrated its industry-leading credentials accounting for more than half of the shortlisted entries at the 2014 Brick Development Association’s (BDA) prestigious Brick Awards.
The awards recognise excellence in design and construction using brick. A total of 46 out of a total of 82 shortlisted entries are Ibstock projects - which highlights the striking aesthetic appeal, versatility and proven performance of its extensive range. This represents an increase of more than 20% for the number of Ibstock entries shortlisted when compared to 2013.
The company is represented in the majority of categories, with 13 of the 16 featuring Ibstock projects.
Ibstock’s successful shortlisted projects include both large and small scale housing developments, public and commercial buildings and refurbishment projects. They contain a number of outstanding and unusual brick-based schemes, including the world famous cricket ground, the Kia Oval, Eton College, the Richmond Building Student Union and London’s Mint St development.
Ibstock’s list of nominations demonstrates its bricks continue to be the preferred choice for architects and specifiers when it comes to designing award-winning buildings.
Andrew Halstead-Smith, group marketing manager at Ibstock, says: “We are once again delighted that so many of our projects have been shortlisted for this year’s BDA Brick Awards.
"The awards are a fantastic showcase for what can be achieved with brick, and demonstrate why it continues to be the construction product of choice for architects and specifiers.
"The diversity of projects selected by the judges demonstrates the wide ranging and innovative brick-based solutions Ibstock’s products are delivering both nationally and internationally. We are looking forward to the final results and are hopeful of further celebrations.”
The 2014 award ceremony will be held in London on November 12.
