Demonstrating the company’s ongoing dedication to sustainable building, the UK’s largest brick manufacturer, Ibstock, has been awarded a rating of ‘very good’ across all of its brickworks for the responsible sourcing standard, BES 6001.
In 2010, Ibstock became the first UK brick manufacturer to achieve a level of ‘very good’ for the important standard when its Dorket Head factory in Nottingham was assessed.
The BES 6001 standard for responsible sourcing demonstrates that a building material has been produced in a way that has minimised its environmental impact, and is sustainable.
Dr. David Hills, Sustainability Manager at Ibstock, commented: “Ibstock has long been at the forefront when it comes to sustainable development and the environment, and we are extremely proud to have now been awarded the BES 6001 standard across all of our products and factories.
“The fact that we achieved such a high rating across the board, which is particular difficult to achieve, is a true reflection of our performance and dedication as a company - the registration body, CPC, even went as far as to say that Ibstock was one of the best companies they had ever visited!”
