Hunter Douglas UK is accelerating plans to consolidate its four product divisions under one umbrella - creating two key new roles in the process.
The restructuring will see the existing divisions - Window Coverings, Ceilings, Façades and Sun Control - combined in a single “Projects” division of Hunter Douglas UK.
The move has been underway for a while, but its completion has been brought forward several months by the internal promotion of Andrew Lee, general manager of Hunter Douglas Sun Control & Façades in the UK and Ireland.
Lee will be moving to Malaysia in April 2011 to head up the Asia division of Hunter Douglas Sun Control & Façades as regional general manager.
The single Projects division will create improved synergy for customers between the company’s wide range of interior and exterior products, which are already designed to fully integrate with each other. The main customer benefit will be the formation of a clearer and simpler communications channel to Hunter Douglas.
As part of the process, Hunter Douglas will be appointing a new Technical Sales Office Manager to co-ordinate the combined divisions, while a new post of National Sales Manager is also being created to take overall control of the cross-divisional sales teams.
Both new posts will report to David Harris, who will continue in his role of overseeing the entire Projects division.
Harris said: “The Projects division has existed for some time in name, but our internal systems and sales structures have continued to operate largely independently up until now.
“I had originally envisaged that the move to a more formal single-division structure would be put in place gradually by the end of 2011, but Andrew’s promotion has allowed that process to be accelerated.
“The introduction of the two new job roles will be an important part of ensuring the transition is both well-managed and seamless.”
Harris added: “I wish Andrew every success in his new post.”
