Flexenergy has launched a range of flexible, corrugated steel pipe for solar thermal installations, combining the benefits of advanced insulation with high temperature performance.
FLEXALEN HT augments the green credentials of thermal energy through polyolefine insulated steel pipe, using an environmentally-friendly foam that combines low embedded carbon in production with low thermal transfer and recyclability at the end of life. It is also non-toxic if burned.
Central to the new high temperature system is a corrugated stainless steel pipe resistant to constant temperatures up to 150oC. It is suitable for above and below ground installation, with its UV-resistant, high impact, and flexible outer casing.
"Solar thermal energy is an important element in the renewables mix and every component of each system - including the connecting pipework - must play its part in optimising the return on investment," says Sandy Fairley, Flexenergy Sales Director.
FLEXALEN HT delivers excellent insulation values, with heat conductivity of only 0.040 W/(m.K) at 40°C.
It can be laid easily in places that are difficult to access and is supplied in DN16, 20 and 25mm diameter pipes with customised coil lengths up to 500m.
