Andersen windows and doors supplied by Black Millwork have been installed at a luxury development in Staffordshire, which includes the complete renovation of a historic mill building.
Andersen’s range of 400 Series casement windows and frenchwood doors provide a period look, combined with high energy performance and low maintenance costs.
Situated in Burton on Trent, the development is a mill conversion into four houses, as well as 10 new build houses and 12 apartments on the surrounding plot, which have been built to provide luxury living accommodation for families, couples and young professionals.
Keith Rushby, from Conack Homes (Midlands) Ltd, who specified the windows and doors said: “With the mill converted into living quarters, the new build houses and apartments had to be designed to complement the traditional style of the existing building and we, therefore, required windows and doors that would be in keeping with the period characteristics of the site.
"After a lot of research, Andersen’s range of 400 Series casement windows and frenchwood doors stood out from the crowd, thanks to their classic design and the wide choice of colours available.”
To enhance the style and add a touch of character to the windows, grilles in Andersen’s colonial pattern – a traditional squared design – were specified.
Keith continued: “As well as adding glazing bars to the windows, we decided on the sandstone finish for the exterior, which helped us to produce an authentic, period design on all properties.
“We also required doors for the properties and Andersen’s frenchwood patio doors complemented the windows and helped to bring the outside in – flooding the properties with natural sunlight and providing panoramic views.”
In addition to the classic designs, all of Andersen’s windows and doors benefit from excellent energy performance levels and low maintenance costs - they feature an innovative Perma-shield system, which protects the exterior of a window for decades, eliminating the need for painting and resulting in significant financial savings. Another key feature includes noise reduction, which is ideal for properties like these that are situated near a roadside.
Keith concludes: “Black Millwork provided us with excellent support, throughout all stages from helping us with the specification, to the actual installation. The windows and doors have brought the properties to life and the detailing gives even the new build properties a really authentic, classic finish.
“Black Millwork has a wide range of windows and doors, in various designs, and we look forward to using them again.”
