Windows and doors from Black Millwork have helped put the finishing touches on a re-modernised and significantly extended classically designed house in Surrey.
The detached property had a complete aesthetic makeover whilst also benefitting from improved thermal efficiency thanks to its new fenestration.
The beautifully finished 3,500 square foot property has been extended on all sides, creating a stylish and substantial family home. Started in September 2012, the project was overseen by owner Liz Deer and was completed this summer. The renovation saw the property completely gutted and remodelled with premium quality materials and furnishings being used.
Liz Deer commented: “Right from the start of this project I’ve set out to do it right and use the best materials, whilst also adhering to a set budget. Black Millwork’s products struck the right balance for me in terms of their competitive price points and superior build quality. I felt it was right to invest at this point, installing highly thermally efficient windows and doors so that I can benefit from lower bills over the years to come.
“It was also important to me that the fenestration performed aesthetically as well as functionally. Managing the renovation of my own home, I was very conscious that I would be living with the results day in, day out, so I had to be pleased with what was specified. The classic designs of Black Millwork’s products fitted in really well with the overall style of the property and I was surprised by just how much of an impact the fenestration has had on the finish of the house.”
Installed at the property were over 30 of Black Millwork’s casement windows manufactured from quality knot-free engineered Baltic Pine and finished in RAL white 9010. Embellished with leaded lights, the windows offered a simple and elegant design whilst also providing excellent thermal efficiency, achieving a U Value of just 1.4.
Also fitted at the site were three 68mm engineered timber exterior doors, with the main entrance also featuring sidelights. Black Millwork’s entire range of doors has additional insulating panels fitted as standard, ensuring supreme performance and all meet fully with European Standards.
Available in any RAL colour finish, Black Millwork’s doors use a Scandinavian Grade paint system and are available in a wide variety of styles to suit the needs of any specifier. In addition to this, adjustable hinges are also fitted as standard and every door comes with extensive material, hardware and finish warranties.
Liz concluded: “Black Millwork has been so helpful throughout the process and has always been on hand to visit the site and help rectify minor scrapes and scratches that occurred during the installation process. It’s important to know that you can rely on your suppliers to look after you when you’re managing your own project like I was – and Black Millwork never let me down.
“I am delighted with the finished result and I’m glad that I stuck to my principles on quality because I can now continue enjoying the benefits for many years to come.”
