British Gypsum has launched a new high performance external sheathing solution, Glasroc X Sheathing Board, which provides up to six months weather protection as certified by the British Board of Agrément (BBA).
Glasroc X Sheathing Board is the first gypsum based external sheathing board to provide six months weather protection as certified by the BBA.
Following rigorous testing and successfully meeting all of the requirements, the BBA certification confirms that the product will withstand all weather conditions when left exposed prior to the completion of the external façade, when used in conjunction with Glasroc X Screws and Glasroc X Sealant in accordance with the installation guidance.
Glasroc X also reaps many practical installation benefits; it is approximately 35 per cent lighter than cement particle boards – resulting in it being significantly easier to handle and install on site, which is especially important when contractors are working at height.
The new sheathing board is also easy to score and snap – similar to plasterboard – with no need for sawing or specialist dust extraction equipment.
Matthew Sexton, Commercial Sector Market Manager at British Gypsum said: “Glasroc X Sheathing Board and its associated accessories are a unique offering for us, as it is our first product that has been specifically designed for external environments.
"With 100 years of unrivalled technical knowledge and support, in addition to extensive BBA testing, customers can rest assure that all of our products have been thoroughly researched and tested.”
Glasroc X Sheathing Board and accessories are suitable for use with most external façade systems commonly used on structural frame steel construction and are available from British Gypsum’s stockists nationwide.
