Saint-Gobain ADFORS, a provider of glass fibre solutions, has supplied a church in Hull with its Novelio wall coverings to renovate and protect the building with long-lasting results.

The Church of Latter Day Saints was in need of updating without causing too much disruption to the use of the building. The building owner was on the lookout for a solution that offered a high level of protection – where traditional wallpaper wouldn’t do.

Novelio®’s glass fibre wall covering was applied to protect the walls of the church, offering durable restoration with a modern, updated look. Building maintenance can be costly, so finding a solution that reduces the need for regular attention to the church can help to lower the total cost of work.

Reducing the level of disruption to the church’s users was also a concern, as the owner wanted to limit the time the church was out of use. Novelio was applied quickly and fixed straight on to the painted walls of the building, reducing the preparation time.

Wayne Durham from Finishing Touch explains how he used Novelio® to renovate the church: “I chose Novelio based on its hardwearing and fire-resistant properties. Novelio was so easy to use – virtually no preparation was needed before I applied it to the walls of the church and it went on perfectly over emulsion painted plaster walls.

“I’m looking forward to using the coverings again. It gave the professional finish I was looking for, moulded well around corners and was great to cut and work with – you wouldn’t know it was glass fibre.”

Simon Bennett, Sales Manager for ADFORS in the UK and Ireland, said: “I’m pleased that the specifier found Novelio® easy to work with on this project. Renovation can be completed quickly, with minimised preparation and drying time and the surfaces can be repainted several times, making for a low-cost update if required.

All Novelio products can be repainted and are easily washable and fulfill B - s1 - d0 (EN 13501-1, A1 and A2 boards) for excellent fire resistance. The classic range also includes pre-painted coverings.
