University College London (UCL) was established in 1826 and is currently ranked fourth top university in the world. Over 27,000 students from over 150 countries attend to study a wide and diverse range of courses.

UCL offers its students an extensive choice of accommodation including two Halls of Residence, one of which, the Ifor Evans building, has recently undergone a major refurbishment.

The development, located in Camden Town, features a mix of 330 single rooms, 5 one bed flats and 3 twin rooms within the building.

For the male and female toilet and shower rooms, which are based over three floors, Kemmlit’s Cronus cubicle system and matching vanity units were specified by UCL’s Estates Department in conjunction with project architects Potter Raper Partnership.

The Cronus cubicle system is versatile and flexible and can be used for either dry or wet areas. The panels are made from 13mm solid grade laminate (SGL) with a special overlay to protect them against abrasion, wear and scratches -making them the ideal solution for this type of demanding environment.

Cronus is available in a range of colours and finishes that can be configured as a single or multiple cubicle system and can be installed into virtually any room configuration.

Kemmlit cubicles have been specified on a number of UCL buildings and in this instance, their ease and speed of installation, was a key factor due to a time critical installation programme.

Full height solid grade laminate duct panels and 3mm solid grade laminate cladding on GRP shower pods completed the scope of works.

The Cronus system is part of an extensive range of high performance cubicle and locker systems from Kemmlit UK who also offer a design, project management and installation service.
