Marley Plumbing and Drainage’s full design service was utilised for the new HQ for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, which incorporates the company’s HDPE and PVCu soil and waste products.

The multi-million pound project began in 2012 to create a state of the art, three-storey building to incorporate offices, break out areas and fully functional conference and meeting facilities for the staff.

The building was designed to be environmentally efficient, with lower maintenance and running costs than the fire service’s previous headquarters.

“In order to meet the client’s long term cost objectives, we knew that we would need products that are virtually maintenance free and able to withstand the daily onslaught,” commented Adrian Gration from contractors, Hayward Electrical.

“Therefore, we changed the original specification to Marley Plumbing and Drainage’s HDPE and PVCu soil and waste products, as we have used them before and knew that they would meet the high standards we needed. We also knew that Marley’s technical team would provide us with the guidance and design support we required to deliver the project on time.”

A full design service is available from Marley’s technical team, where client’s CAD drawings or floor plans are used to produce schematic layouts in line with Building Regulations and British Standards. These layouts are formulated to give all the relevant product reference codes to make up the drainage design for a project.

Adrian continued: “Another concern was that we did not want to use products from a number of different manufacturers as we were worried this might hold up the process. Thanks to Marley’s wide product portfolio, we were able to source all the pipes and fittings we needed from just one supplier.”

Marley’s HDPE and PVCu soil and waste products are constructed using lightweight materials, which ensures a quick installation. Manufactured to high standards of durability, they offer an alternative solution to cast iron.

PVCu offers excellent impact resistance suitable for a range of building applications and is 100 per cent recyclable – demonstrating Marley’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing. HDPE is a flexible and weatherproof material that has a good low temperature toughness (-60°C) that is particularly suited for commercial drainage systems.

Adrian concluded: “We couldn’t be happier with the dedicated service Marley and its technical team provided us and we look forward to instructing Marley on future projects.”
