Responding to customer demands, Hilti has launched the HIT-HY 270 Injectable mortar for strong, safe and reliable anchoring in a variety of masonry base materials, such as hollow block or natural stone.
The product comes with a European Technical Approval (ETA) for use in hollow and solid masonry.
Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications in dry or wet hole conditions, the product’s all-weather attributes also cover temperatures between -5°C and 40°C (+5°C to 40°C for solid brick).
It has been designed to work across a number of applications including: fastenings in hollow and solid masonry; refurbishment and renovation projects; facade tie-backs to masonry structural walls; structural strengthening of old masonry walls; heavy bracing of items and glass balustrade assemblies.
In hollow base materials the company recommends it is used with Hilti HIT-SC composite mesh sleeves and Hilti HIT-V anchor rods, which allows the operative to simply inject the mortar and push the rod into the sleeve. Modular sleeves can be used individually or clicked together for deeper embedment.
“Anchoring into masonry has long been an issue in the marketplace and one that has troubled our customers,” starts Carlos Taborda, Northern Europe Product Manager (Anchors) for Hilti. “They challenged us to find the best possible solution and it was up to us to respond.
“The result is covers many different masonry base layers, possesses all-weather properties and, perhaps most importantly, carries an ETA for peace of mind. Users know it will perform reliably, even when the size and locations of bricks and voids are unknown.”
For the most cost-effective use of its mortars, the company also recommends the Hilti HDE 500-A22 Cordless electric dispenser, which allows automatic control of the volume dispensed to avoid over-dispensing while also minimising waste through an automatic piston return that prevents dripping.
Fastenings in masonry can be designed using the new design software, part of Hilti’s comprehensive PROFIS Anchor solution.
