NBT demonstrates how to overcome the performance gap at Ecobuild

Exhibition & Webinar Tue, Mar 22, 2016 5:09 PM

Natural Building Technologies’ (NBT) focus at Ecobuild 2013 will be on how to overcome the performance gap.

This is not only the failure of most new and retrofitted buildings to deliver the designed thermal performance in reality, but also the gap in health and comfort, and in the environmental performance of buildings.

NBT will be demonstrating what the gap means and also how to tackle the practical process issues involved in delivering the ‘as designed’ performance of a finished building.

The company will occupy two stands at Ecobuild to deliver its messages. Stand N841 will address the need to deliver the crucial elements of the three key performance areas: thermal performance (u-values, y-values (thermal bridging) and airtightness); health and comfort (moisture control, toxins and overheating); and the environment (carbon reduction, pollution and the sustainability of resources).

Neighbouring stand N950 will be used to present practical demonstrations of how to build structures that deliver the ‘as designed’ performance and will explain how NBT works with the whole process chain from the initial design and specification stage with the client and architect, through the construction phase, to the delivery of the finished building to ensure there is no gap between the theoretical performance and that of the finished building.

The two stands together will be used to illustrate how clients, architects and specifiers, contractors and users can be part of a Journey to Better Buildings through the use of NBT’s performance based systems and product offering.

Without understanding and actively embracing the key elements of performance and process, there is no hope of new or retrofitted buildings being low energy, healthy or environmental.

NBT, along with its supply chain partners, invites those who are interested in delivering better buildings to be part of this journey to better buildings with them.
