In Bailly-Romainvilliers, just east of Paris, the Deloitte University EMEA has opened its doors. Designed to support continuous learning in a modern and inspiring environment, this international training campus for Deloitte teams was delivered in January 2024 and inaugurated in June. With a construction budget exceeding €65 million, the project was led by Dubuisson Architecture and embodied a strong commitment to sustainability, well-being and high-quality design.
Architecture Inspired by Nature
Drawing inspiration from grand French estates, the architecture harmoniously integrates into its natural surroundings. The use of authentic materials such as terracotta and wood, enhances the campus’s ecological identity and contributes to its warm, inviting character.
Hunter Douglas Architectural’s Tailored Contribution
Hunter Douglas played a key role by supplying custom ceiling and wall solutions that aligned with the project’s ambitious design and acoustic requirements. The result is a visually cohesive and high-performing interior environment.
Natural Materials and Warm Finishes
More than 6,500m2 of Derako® Solid Wood Linear systems were used – about 4,000m2 for ceilings and 2,500m2 for walls – crafted from Iarch and European pine. A mix of terracotta varnish, oak and white-stained finishes adds warmth and variation throughout the space. These finishes are featured in key zones such as the main entrance hall, circulation areas and auditorium.
Acoustic Comfort with Tavola Baffles
To further enhance comfort and acoustic quality, 2,500m2 of Tavola™ aluminium baffles were installed in the “Town Square” relaxation zone and surrounding corridors that connect to the restaurant, classrooms and auditorium. The baffles, finished in RAL 9003, ensure aesthetic consistency across the campus.
Custom Solutions and Technical Challenges
The project presented numerous technical challenges that required custom dimensions, bespoke triangular elements and tailored fixing systems. Several invisible access hatches were developed to ensure functionality without compromising design. Extensive finish testing was also conducted to meet the architects’ detailed specifications.
Recognised for Excellence in Sustainability
The Deloitte University EMEA has received prestigious sustainability certifications, including:
- • BREEAM Excellent
- • WELL Gold
- • E+C Level E3C1
- • BiodiverCity Excellent
- • Cradle to Cradle
The project also won the MIPIM Award 2023 for “Best Alternative Project” and the 2024 Val d’Europe Economic Trophy for “Promotion and Development of the Territory.
