MLC Risers are a robust, high-capacity multi-layer composite pipe system designed specifically for hot and cold water riser installations in residential, commercial and public buildings. Engineered to deliver long-term reliability, hygiene and installation efficiency, MLC Risers combine the strength of metal with the flexibility and corrosion resistance of plastic, making them ideal for vertical distribution in multi-storey developments.
The five-layer composite construction features a longitudinally welded aluminium core that provides a 100% oxygen-tight barrier, preventing corrosion within the system and protecting connected components. This aluminium layer also compensates for thermal expansion and snap-back forces, ensuring dimensional stability even under fluctuating temperatures and pressures. Inner and outer polyethylene layers offer excellent resistance to high temperatures, chemical influences and mechanical stress, supporting long service life and consistent performance.
Available in diameters from 40 to 110mm, MLC Risers are suited to high-flow applications such as potable water distribution, boosted cold water systems, and heating networks. The system supports operating pressures of up to 10 bar (and up to 16 bar for boosted cold water) with short-term temperature resistance up to 95°C, meeting the demands of modern building services design.
MLC Risers integrate seamlessly with Uponor’s proven fitting technologies, including S-Press, enabling fast, secure and repeatable installation even in confined riser shafts. Press connections can be prepared at the workbench and quickly assembled on site, improving installation accuracy while reducing labour time and on-site risk. Clear colour coding and test safety functions further enhance reliability during installation.
Designed as part of a complete water system approach, MLC Risers are fully compatible with Instaflex and Aquasystem solutions, allowing specifiers to create integrated networks from risers through to distribution pipework. This compatibility simplifies system design, procurement and installation while maintaining consistent performance and hygiene standards throughout the building.
