Visqueen has gained third-party approval for its Axiom Uniseal liquid water proofing membrane.

The independent BDA Agrément process, recognised by architects, specifiers and engineers is designed to confirm a product’s suitability for its intended purpose in the construction market and uses rigorous third-party testing to test durability and compliance.

Kiwa BDA has been offering its’ BDA Building Agrément service since 2009 and is one of the few third-party product certifications that covers both the UK and European markets. It is also recognised by the National House Building Council (NHBC) and the Local Authority Building Control organisation (LABC).

Chris Forshaw, Kiwa BDA Business Manager said of the process; “It is the very thoroughness of the procedure of inspection, testing and assessment that adds the value to the Building Agrément service. Factory Production Control is combined with a consultative and professional technical review to ensure the product or system is rigorously tested and assessed for fitness of purpose.”

Commenting on the accreditation, Visqueen’s National Technical Manager Niklas Ullfors said: “We are delighted to have achieved BDA approval for the Axiom range which was developed to meticulous standards by Visqueen. It is clear from the demands of certification that the BDA is the highest technical authority within the third-party agrément sector, making them the ideal partners for certification and providing the reassurance to our customers that our products are suitable for their intended purpose.”

Axiom Uniseal provides a solution to the many complex demands of below ground waterproofing and has been formulated to be ideal for masonry applications including blockwork and irregular detailing work such as wall ties, steel stanchions and pipe penetrations. It also seals onto other waterproofing membranes allowing for a complete waterproofing solution.

The result of in-depth market and a comprehensive development programme, Axiom Uniseal is fully compatible with Visqueen’s full range of structural waterproofing products and provides a robust solution for specifiers and end-users.

The Axiom product range meet all the criteria outlined in the BS8102, the code of practice for below-ground waterproofing, as well as the latest version of NHBC’s Chapter 5.4. The range also satisfies the key user requirements identified by Visqueen’s extensive customer research which specified that liquid membranes had to be easy-to-use and price competitive, whilst still delivering a high standard of technical performance.
