Through a collaboration between New Era Floor Systems and Jupiter Heating Systems Ltd, LevelDek, a new system for underfloor heating within a cradle and batten system has been launched.
New Era is undoubtedly becoming the industry standard when it comes to cradle and batten floor levelling. The issue, as is so often, has been that installing underfloor heating within such a system has been left to contractors to find their own solution. There was no system; there was no designed solution.
Enter Jupiter Heating Systems into the picture. With 15 years of UK experience of dry installed heating systems they proposed to solve the problem by developing a saddle system that sits on the batten to hold the underfloor heating panel and pipe. This solution ensures the heating panel sits in direct contact with the floor structure above eliminating any insulating air zone around the heating pipes and therefore providing a more effective and efficient underfloor heating system. Raising the heating element off the floor also provides space for other services (electrical, water, etc.) within the floor void.
Tests of the new system with the same water temperature clearly demonstrate that direct surface contact of underfloor heating provides higher surface temperatures i.e. greater heat output than ‘solutions’ with the pipes fixed to the substrate.
The new LevelDek system is designed to work with low cost chipboard and ply wood decks as well as the unique Screed Replacement Tile system from Jupiter which comes with the 5-year floor warranty for stone and tile floors.
The combined solution has been branded LevelDek and is now available for specification.
