Supermarket chain Lidl has selected Hunter Douglas as its preferred supplier for the provision of sun control as part of its store refurbishment and expansion programme.
The UK & Ireland division of Hunter Douglas Sun Control and Façades, based near Cannock in Staffordshire, has to date been asked to supply materials to six of Lidl’s expanding store network in the UK and Ireland, with more expected as the programme rolls out.
Lidl currently operates more than 530 stores in the UK. Hunter Douglas has been specified as preferred sun control supplier for all new stores as well as those being upgraded, as part of Lidl’s Europe-wide refurbishment programme.
Stephen Archer-Jones, sun control manager for Hunter Douglas Sun Control & Façades in the UK and Ireland, said: “Lidl has a clear policy of creating its stores with functional yet attractive architecture in order to improve the shopping experience for its customers.
“The Hunter Douglas philosophy is itself based on the three central themes of design, functionality and comfort – so it seems very fitting that our sun control products have been specified by Lidl.
“We’re delighted to be associated with a company of this size and stature.”
Hunter Douglas is supplying its 132S Sun Louvre panel systems to Lidl, consisting of 132mm Z-shaped roll formed aluminium panels within an elegant support structure.
This panel type is typically used to achieve a crisp and clean architectural result. It is available in a wide variety of colours.
Hunter Douglas has recently received RIBA accreditation for a new CPD presentation entitles Intelligent Sun Control. Interested parties should contact Maureen Atherton on 01543 272655 or email ribacpd@hunterdouglas.co.uk.
