2012 is a remarkable year for Great Britain and a significant milestone for British manufacturer Marshall-Tufflex, which is celebrating its 70th year in business.

The company, which remains family owned, was founded in 1942 as C&C Marshall Ltd. From day one it specialised in producing a variety of PVC products and quickly established a reputation as a pioneer of PVC extrusion and injection moulding techniques. By the early 1950s success saw the business outgrowing its manufacturing base in North London and in 1956 it relocated to a far larger site in Hastings, East Sussex, where it remains to this day as one of the largest independent employers in the town.

The move to Hastings also saw the company establish the commercial arm of the business as Marshall-Tufflex Ltd. The market-leading tried-and-trusted brand of cable management systems was born. Today Marshall-Tufflex produces the most comprehensive range of PVC-U cable management solutions including Odyssey, the only all-curved profile on the market. In addition it offers a wide variety of profiles, sizes and finishes in PVC-U, aluminium, steel, GRP plus its Bio antimicrobial system. Many are Cat 6 compliant and all come with full suites of accessories. Bespoke orders are dealt with by a dedicated ‘specials’ team.

Marshall-Tufflex has maintained its market leading position through innovation, evolving its offer to include a number of new Current carrying products including its revolutionary MT32 click-fit power connection solution and Series 507 floor distribution system, maintaining its reputation for delivering the highest quality products.

This focus on innovation saw the company launch a new business in 2009 – Marshall-Tufflex Energy Management – manufacturing Voltis voltage optimisation systems to reduce power consumption in domestic, commercial and industrial locations. Voltis Home (domestic) and Voltis (commercial/industrial) have proved enormously successful, with new additions to the range due for launch later this year. With the addition of further energy management product solutions such as Sinergy sub-meters and the Ipsis energy control and management system – all of which can all be linked through a Marshall-Tufflex control centre dashboard – customers can one-stop-shop when it comes to measuring, recording, analysing and reducing power consumption.

“The Marshall-Tufflex story so far is one of technological innovations coupled with high quality UK manufacturing standards and great customer service,” said Managing Director Jim Fletcher. “We intend to continue with this ethos, developing new and exciting products across our business that deliver tangible benefits to both our installer customers and end users as well as making life easy for our distributors to work with us. We’d like to thank all our customers and suppliers throughout the supply chain for supporting us and we look forward to many more years of working together.”
