Earthborn environmentally friendly paints scooped not one but two glittering, design awards at the hotly contested 2012 House Beautiful Awards.

Achieving the ultimate gold award for ‘Best Wallcovering’ was the Earthborn Claypaint extended range, while a stunning silver went to Earthborn Ecopro Silicate Masonry Paint for ‘Best DIY product’.

The annual House Beautiful Awards recognise excellence in home products. This year’s expert panel of judges included House Beautiful Editor Julia Goodwin, John Rocha, Jeff Banks, Sophie Conran, Oliver Heath, Nick Munro, David Domoney, Tommy Walsh and Mary Berry.

In both categories, Earthborn beat off stiff competition from the likes of Little Greene Paint Company, Farrow & Ball and Graham & Brown*. Judge Julia Goodwin described Earthborn Claypaint as: ”Eco-friendly, interesting colours that offer something new from a UK company".

Earthborn Managing Director John Dison said: “We are thrilled to win these mainstream awards against some of the top names in the DIY and decorating industries. Retailers can stock them and contractors can recommend them knowing they are the best in their field.

“Claypaint is an exciting alternative to emulsion, which is receiving growing recognition every year. It's odour free, highly breathable and provides a distinctive, soft matt finish with great covering power and performance. Being free of VOCs and harmful emissions, it is safer for your health and the environment. Its extended colour range offers some delightful colour options.

“Ecopro Silicate Masonry Paint offers a high performance alternative to limewash and other conventional masonry paints. It bonds with the underlying masonry to form a hard wearing, weatherproof barrier that is also algae and mould resistant. Being water based and VOC free, Ecopro Silicate Masonry Paint has strong environmental credentials and allows the masonry to breathe. It’s available in 40 standard shades and provides a crisp, classic matt finish does not yellow with time and lasts up to 15 years or more.”
