Since 2011, there has been a rise in the popularity of resin bound, due to the environmental requirement of Sustainable urban Drainage Systems for managing water runoff to prevent flooding.

If the surface requires differentiation or inclusion of a design element adaptability and ease of application have made resin bound paving the choice for a variety of different types of sites; from custom features forming the centrepiece to prestigious landscaping or housing development project; to more extensive areas of hard surfacing on pathways, tree pits, pool surrounds, driveways, access roads and car parks.

Normally resin bound is specified to be laid on a sound asphalt or concrete base, which acts as a structural layer with sufficient strength for its intended use. Some resin bound materials can be installed on other bases (speak to supplier), if circumstances dictate that a traditional base is not appropriate or possible, by increasing the depth of resin bound and using a base alternative like SureCell - a 100% recycled plastic grid structure, is another consideration.

Lastly, look for a supplier that offers a substantial guarantee, which doesn’t diminish over time and find out if maintenance guides and technical support is provided post installation. Many established suppliers will be recognised by organisations such as BALI and NBS Source or adhere to national quality standards such a BBA and ISO 9001.
