Charcon, the commercial hard landscaping division of Aggregate Industries, has successfully completed a significant delivery to the new £12m Snowhill Retail Park in Wakefield.

Appointed by contractors, Kier and Savills, Charcon consulted with architects, The Harris Partnership, to recommend the best hard landscaping products to complement the aesthetics of the overall project.

More than 2,250m2 of Andover Textured Block Paving was specified in a range of grey hues, including Light Grey, Silver Fleck and Chestnut, plus 400 units of Andover Textured Flag Paving in Silver Fleck and Light Grey.

Incorporating uniquely formulated Cornish aggregates to maximise performance, durability and aesthetics, Andover Textured offers the hard-wearing performance of granite at an affordable price. It’s ideal for prestigious pedestrian areas and building developments, including town centres and shopping precincts. It features a finely textured surface, is available in 12 sizes, offering a myriad of design options, and the breadth of shades can be used to complement and contrast one another to dramatic effect. An Infilta concrete block permeable paver is also available where sustainable urban drainage is a requirement.

Mike Davies, Sector Marketing Manager for Charcon, comments: “We are delighted to have been able to provide our product expertise and knowledge to the Snowhill Retail Park project. Charcon is pleased to be supporting Wakefield’s vision for the wider Snowhill development, with beautiful, contemporary landscaping helping to shape a positive experience for people visiting the centre.”

Completed in May, Snowhill Retail Park officially opened to the public this summer, bringing with it 250 local jobs. The food anchored retail centre forms the first phase of the wider Snowhill development, along the A650 in Newton Bar, which received planning permission in 2009.
