Polypipe Ventilation, manufacturer of market-leading domestic ventilation systems, has been awarded a substantial order for its ducting systems for the new Glasshouse Gardens development in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
A total of 333 residential apartments are being built by leading contractor Lendlease, arranged across two contemporary 30 and 17 storey residential tower buildings offering studio, one, two and three bedroom homes. Each apartment incorporates an array of modern technologies including Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR). Polypipe’s market leading range of Domus rigid ducting is also being installed into the apartments and forms an integral part of these highly efficient MVHR systems.
In total, 1300 metres of Domus Supertube 204x60mm rigid ducting will be used in the first apartment block, along with new Domus Flow Control Plenums and High Efficiency Green Line bends..
Polypipe’s Domus 204x60mm ducting is the most popular domestic duct profile used in MVHR systems. It is recommended by specifiers and contractors because of its low pressure losses, light weight nature, ease of installation, low profile and precise joints.
Kish Jethwa, Director of Ventilation UK Ltd, the company responsible for carrying out the ventilation installation work at Glasshouse Gardens, championed Domus ducting to be “the best ducting product available”. A long standing Polypipe customer, Kish is also impressed by the service he receives from Polypipe Ventilation which is “always good and consistently to a high standard”.
Domus 204x60mm Supertube ducting comes with a range of accessories, two of the latest include Flow Control plenums and High Efficiency Green Line bends.. Domus Green Line 90° bends provide up to 60% reduction in duct bend resistance - significantly lowering pressure loss and overall energy usage, whilst the Domus Flow Control plenum is used to connect directly to stylish architectural grilles. The design of the Flow Control plenum also allows for commissioning to be carried out in advance of construction of the finished ceiling, thereby providing peace of mind that the required air flow rates will be achieved while the duct system is still accessible. This also means less risk of costly remedial work – an aspect that Lendlease found particularly appealing.
Domus ducting has a deserved reputation for quality and excellent technical support, in line with Polypipe’s position in the ventilation market. Polypipe Ventilation is well placed to offer immediate, practical solutions to Building Regulations Parts F & L. The company continues to provide differentiated solutions in the private and social housing sectors, transforming the way developers, specifiers, installers, homeowners and distributors meet emerging environmental standards.
