ISG has been awarded a £16.5 million contract by Ashfield Land to construct the new Regent Circus retail and leisure destination in Swindon.

Built on the site of the former Swindon Technical College, the high profile mixed-use scheme is anchored by a new six-screen Cineworld Cinema and a 50,000 sq. ft. Morrisons supermarket.

Beating strong industry competition to secure this prestigious project, ISG has worked closely with Ashfield Land to carry out an extensive value engineering exercise, collaborating with the delivery team and supply chain to achieve key cost and time savings, significantly refining and enhancing the original specification.

In addition to the new cinema and Morrisons store, Regent Circus will comprise eight restaurant units, with tenants including Prezzo, Nandos and ASK, and a 450 space car park.

The multi-storey scheme will regenerate the existing site and improve the street scene with its striking design featuring brick, curtain walling and composite metal cladding. Surrounding public realm space will also be upgraded as part of the development, with a new landscaping scheme and feature exterior lighting.

ISG’s John Rawlinson, managing director – South West, commented: “Regent Circus is an exciting new addition to the retail and leisure landscape within Swindon, bringing high specification facilities to a new town centre location.

"The project is an excellent example of the value of early contractor engagement within the procurement process, enabling ISG’s expertise within major retail construction to deliver real cost and programme savings to this landmark development.”
