Leading roofing and waterproofing specialist BriggsAmasco has completed the high quality application of multiple roofing systems at The Place, London Bridge – one of the city’s largest new office buildings and part of the £2 billion London Bridge Quarter development.

Designed by leading international architect Renzo Piano, the 17-storey development is located directly adjacent to London Bridge Station. With more than 50 million passengers using the station every year, the roofing application had to be designed and delivered with the highest health and safety standards in mind.

Working with main contractor MACE, BriggsAmasco was appointed to design and specify a roofing system that would guarantee waterproofing integrity and deliver long term performance – whilst also meeting the project’s stylish aesthetics. The company supplied a combination of IKO PermaTEC Hot Melt, IKO Polimar seamless waterproofing systems and high end granite paving.

A tough, flexible, self-sealing membrane which is suitable for use in most protected membrane roofs, IKO PermaTEC reinforced bitumen membrane was specified to provide the perfect combination of performance, cost and ease of application. The product’s safe and fast installation also proved ideal for the demanding site conditions.

Suitable for warm or cold roofs, IKO Polimar provided a flexible, high performance UV resistant coating that forms a seamless weatherproof barrier. Its high levels of strength also made it a great choice at The Place where BriggsAmasco had to complete intricate detailing requirements whilst guaranteeing waterproofing integrity.

BriggsAmasco completed the application with a series of granite paving and associated works – utilising the company’s experience and expertise to deliver a hassle-free installation. Despite working alongside numerous other trades on site and close to the active train lines, the company used careful coordination and extreme care to achieve the project’s tight timeframe.

Exceptional workmanship and attention to detail proved crucial and ensured BriggsAmasco delivered all works to a very tight schedule. The company successfully handed over the project to keep it on track for its much anticipated summer 2013 grand opening – with a high quality roofing system befitting of such a prestigious and world-famous location.
