B & K Structures has celebrated along with the project team of Notre Dame Catholic College, after the educational scheme won ‘School Project of the Year' at the Education Estates Awards dinner, held at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel in Manchester.
"We are thrilled to be associated with this project and it was great to be there to see the Architects, Sheppard Robson picking up the award ," said Nick Milestone, Managing Director of B & K Structures.
"It is rewarding to be part of an award winning project team and have our work recognised for excellence in the educational sector."
Notre Dame Cathedral College in Liverpool was the first of eight schools to receive funding of £100m from the Building for Schools for the Future Programme, initiated by Liverpool City Council.
The school was relocated from its Victorian home to a new site next to Everton Park Sports Centre, in Great Homer Street.
B & K Structures' delivered a full design and build package for this project that was effectively a very simple warehouse design of glulam arches supported by structural steelwork. Arched glulam rafters were used on a steel frame braced with galvanised steel tension rods with a concrete hollow core floor.
"The highlight of this build was working with an outstanding team to deliver a successful project that stands out from the crowd within its sector. Programme time and costs were key and the college was delivered ahead of schedule. The building followed long term, sustainable values for the local community and the architects," added Nick Milestone.
