Manchester-based not-for-profit Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO), Northwards Housing, is seeing its relationship with leading building materials provider, Wienerberger, go from strength to strength in light of an industry-wide shortfall in the supply of concrete.

In response, Northwards has utilised one of Wienerberger’s large format clay roof tiles in order to meet tight timescales and react to market demand.

Northwards has a stock of around 13,500 properties and currently re-roofs between 700 - 800 units per year. It has recently used the Actua Flat clay tile in order to facilitate the completion of three large refurbishment schemes in a timely manner, taking advantage of Wienerberger’s entire portfolio of products and working closely with the building material provider’s newly formed Social Housing team.

John Harris, National Sales Manager at Wienerberger, commented: "We’re thrilled that Northwards is using our Actua Flat clay tiles because supplying clay tiles to this sector is not a typical occurrence. They bring a huge range of benefits; not only do they tend to be more durable but they also provide long-term colour stability and give an incredibly appealing finish to building projects.”

A spokesperson from Northwards, commented: “The availability of Wienerberger’s clay tiles has been crucial in ensuring we met the deadline for our refurbishment projects. It’s reassuring to work so closely with a supplier who can adapt to our needs and provide solutions to the industry-wide challenges associated with the concrete shortage. We were confident with the quality and style of the product and will look to consider clay more in our future projects.”

The provision of Wienerberger’s Actua Flat clay tiles brings durability, ease of installation, and an aesthetically pleasing finish to builds.
