Leading UK street furniture manufacturer Townscape Products is predicting a boom in demand for solar street furniture in 2017 as authorities seek sturdy, safe and sustainable products that boast zero running costs.

The firm which manufactures a broad range of solar products including shelters, noticeboards and solar bollards – is currently developing an extended range of products for release in 2017 that are being designed to meet customer requirements.

According to Townscape and sister company Bollards HQ which is pioneering advances in solar bollards – the present rise in sales and enquiries for solar street furniture coincides with the technology commercially coming of age.

Jonathan Goss, managing director at Townscape Products, said: "While councils across the UK struggle to implement severe spending cuts, advances in street furniture technology are creating a fantastic opportunity to generate long-term financial savings.

“The biggest no brainer of all is that by banking these savings – authorities can also dramatically improve inner city and suburban safety.”

Solar street furniture with motion sensor technology turns on when pedestrians approach brightening their path forward making them less likely to bump into obstacles.

Further, in stark contrast to traditional street lighting that is a constant drain on the public purse, intelligent solar items only use ‘free’ energy generated by natural daylight.

“Now that solar technology is becoming ever more viable, authorities the length and breadth of the country have the opportunity to slash costs and reduce public bills while powering towards sustainability goals and improving safety.”

Jonathan concludes: “To this end, we are excited to announce that we will unveil a raft of state-of-the-art products early in 2017. This will mean those charged with sourcing solar street furniture will have more choice than ever before.

“Here at Townscape, we are keen to assist authorities and town planners make transition to solar products smoothly, so we’re happy to chat on a free and friendly basis about the numerous benefits including quick, cheap installation.”
