In order to deliver a better level of insulation and to preserve the aesthetics of a 200-year old chapel in Dyfed, Wales, SSQ Slate has provided approximately 1,000 of its Montegris, First Grade slates for installation across the roof.
The Old Chapel in Pembroke Dock needed a high quality slate offering a colour that was in keeping with the 200-year-old structure and its surroundings. SSQ’s Montegris First were the ideal fit - their natural medium grey colour blending in well with the chapel’s design.
Lee Williams, Owner of Lee Williams Roofing Ltd said: “The main reason for replacing the roof was that the previous slates, all old and different sizes, provided no insulation.
"Therefore, the new roofing slates needed to be long lasting and of a high quality, in order to deliver an added level of insulation once installed. Of course, it was important to ensure the look was just right too – the colour of SSQ’s Montegris First suited the building perfectly and blend in very well with the surrounding landscape too.”
SSQ’s Montegris roofing slate has a distinctive riven texture; the grey colour is totally natural and will not fade, even in the strongest sunlight.
In addition to passing SSQ’s own, rigorous quality-control tests, SSQ Montegris roofing slate has been tested in accordance with EN 12326.
