New entrance mat gets backing

Frontrunner SB, the high performance solid backed entrance mat recently introduced by Plastic Extruders Ltd, is being used to solve a slippery problem at the entrance of a coffee shop in Greece.

The external entrance area at the Barón coffee shop in Athens was exposing customers to potential slip hazards during wet conditions. With no existing matwell, there was a need for a thin and slip resistance mat to be used to prevent slipping accidents.

Greek flooring specialist Art George Beredimas recommended Frontrunner SB with welded flexible PVC edging around it as the most effective and affordable solution.

Frontrunner SB’s open ribbed top surface has a R11 slip resistance rating under DIN 51130 and a profile height of only 6.5mm which makes it ideal for applications with no existing matwell. Another benefit is that the ‘scrape and clean’ matting also traps dirt from shoes which is contained by its solid back ensuring it is not transferred inside the shop and reducing cleaning and maintenance costs.

Frontrunner SB and Frontrunner SB+ (which has the addition of absorbent inserts) are manufactured from flexible PVC meaning they are sturdy enough to withstand heels and wheeled traffic, whilst the hollow tube construction is light in weight and easy to handle. Manufactured in black and grey, they are supplied in 10m or 20m long rolls in 1m widths.

As with all the mats in the Frontrunner range, they can be trimmed easily on site to fit any shape, such as within revolving doors or around columns. Their unique flexibility also means they will contour over uneven or rough surfaces yet always remain stable underfoot.
