Leaderflush Shapland has supplied 478 internal doorsets to a National Indoor Sports Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome at a major sports development in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Commonwealth Arena, covering 42,000m, will consist of an indoor arena and Scotland’s first Velodrome, with the total spectator capacity for both venues a staggering 8,000 people.

With such a high volume of spectators expected to attend the games in 2014, safety was a very important aspect of the design.

Leaderflush Shapland’s products were specified for this impressive project due to their fire resistant and acoustic performance attributes.

The internal doorsets from its Vulcan range are fire resistant up to 120 minutes and achieve up to 46RwDB reduction in acoustic levels.

In addition to this the doors have been Hygienilac coated – which is an anti-bacterial finish for infection control, killing most species of bacteria including C.diff, MRSA, Salmonella and E.Coli – preventing the spread of infection.
