An associate company of Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has completed the largest shopping, leisure and entertainment destination in Fujairah, one of the United Arab Emirates.

Khansaheb Civil Engineering completed Fujairah City Centre for its key client, Majid Al Futtaim, six weeks ahead of the original target opening date. All 105 retail stores and food and beverage outlets were trading on the first day, including the largest Carrefour hypermarket in the Emirate.

Featuring an Exterior Insulated Finish System (EIFS) spray-applied decorative render to the façade, the mall creates a very striking appearance, with the EIFS also improving the energy efficiency of the building.

The new centre introduces a mix of new and internationally-renowned brands, plus entertainment and a wide range of food and beverage outlets.

Fujairah City Centre features a Magic Planet family entertainment centre and state-of-the-art VOX Cinemas multiplex.

Commenting on the key aspects of the build, George Franks, Managing Director of Interserve International says: “Khansaheb has worked with Majid Al Futtaim Properties and their professional team on a repeat basis for ten years. The relationship has developed to a point where we really work as one homogenous team with no boundaries, no politics and one goal: delivery.

“This has been particularly evident on this project where a high degree of collaboration and interface between Khansaheb, the designers and client project management team was necessary to accelerate the works and achieve early completion. In addition, Khansaheb has showcased its extensive tenant liaison skills to ensure the smooth execution of fit-out works on individual shop units.”

Fujairah City Centre was developed in accordance with industry best practice and recorded no major accidents over four million hours logged during construction.

The development is currently also on track to obtain a Gold LEED rating as an environmentally-sustainable building: the first in the Emirate to achieve this industry rating.
