Gradient Flat Roofing has worked on a unique project with a leading London golf course to create a bespoke green roofing solution.

Richmond Park Golf Course, located close to the picturesque Richmond Park and the National Tennis Centre, looked to create an eco-friendly roofing system that minimised environmental impact while blending in seamlessly with the natural beauty of the surrounding golf course. Recticel’s Eurothane Silver foam board was the natural choice.

Contracted by Garhigh Southern Ltd, the golf course requested a Kemper liquid applied roofing membrane and green roof. In order to blend in seamlessly with its surroundings, and turn the roof of the clubhouse into a real talking point, grass from the course itself was incorporated into the roof – providing one of the most unique ‘19th holes’ in the country.

A closed cell rigid polyisocyanurate foam core faced on both sides with a multi-layer aluminium coated foil, Eurothane Silver has an exceptionally low thermal conductivity – measuring just 0.0023W/mK. Eurothane is also CFC and HCFC free, providing zero o-zone depletion, making it an ideal product for any green project.

A further practical benefit of Eurothane Silver is its flexibility in liquid applied applications. The unique manufacturing process, and the unrivalled adhesion of the insulation form to the foil facing, makes it the natural choice for a wide variety of liquid applied systems.

Tom Diener, Gradient Sales Manager for the South East, said: “This was a unique project that allowed us to showcase all of the benefits of Eurothane Silver. The team at Garhigh were briefed on delivering a roofing solution that was extremely practical and had minimal impact on the golf course’s beautiful surrounding environment, and having used Eurothane Silver products for many years they knew that we could deliver.

“The team are delighted with the results and now have a roof which provides an extra bit of character, while containing durable, rot-proof insulation board that is some 30% more efficient than most other insulation materials.”
