Stoke Mandeville Stadium is installing a brand new submersible swimming pool platform lift in a bid to offer functional, independent and dignified entry and exit of the pool.

Known as the Poolpod; the pool platform lift, which was designed by Core Product Design Group, offers functional and accessible features for pool users who would normally struggle to access a swimming pool.

The Poolpod was designed following a competition launched by the Olympic Delivery Authority for London 2012, after it failed to find an existing pool platform lift that met the standards required for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Ian Seabrook, Business Development Manger at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, said: “The Poolpod will be a great addition to the Stadium.

“We have many users who will make great use of this and it supports our philosophy of encouraging more people to be more active, more often.”

Josh Reid, Managing Director at Core PD Group, commented: “Our company’s innovative solution to the brief was to combine our adaptable industrial design skills with our progressive user-focused design philosophy. This approach proved to be very successful, so much so that the Olympic Delivery Authority selected us to develop our ideas and manufacture the pool platform lift.

“We are delighted to be involved in the design of a product that will help to allow leisure centres provide more inclusive swimming facilities.”
