Pantone, the global authority on colour and provider of professional colour standards for the design industries, has announced Tangerine Tango to be its Colour of the Year for 2012.

The Formica Collection is well placed to answer the trend with high pressure laminate in Clementine, Blaze Red and Levante. Bright accents in limey yellows, energetic reds and fresh greens - Spectrum Yellow or Vibrant Green also offer that zesty look.

“Drama definitely has a place in design. Colour blocking or ‘shocking’ will be a big trend theme, especially for feature aspects of both design and architecture. This is then balanced with an updated modern neutrals palette,” comments Renee Hytry Derrington, Group Vice President – Design and Innovation, Asia, Europe and North America.

The trend for dynamic colour comes directly from the catwalk and has great impact on interiors. Energetic and vivacious, orange colours ‘spice up your life’. Use it as an accent to emphasize a feature, clad a wall in this bold colour for a burst of energy or to complement materials such as dark or smokey wood finishes.

Eva Hoernisch, Formica Group Design Manager, Europe adds: “Super-natural woods combine with pure ‘plastic’ pigment, subtle architectural neutrals with an acidic palette of pinks and yellows, the popular greys and ash schemes with lime greens and techno blue - there is no limit, it's a colour riot!"

Make the bright colours stand out by using them on furniture or against a white background. For maximum effect Premium Pattern Mode used Blaze Red on Clementine to offer high drama.

Formica Group’s innovative Collection bringing together colours, designs and textures in high pressure laminate is right on trend with interior design thinking with its choice of bright and vibrant colours for 2012.
