Kilsaran International, the market-leading concrete and paving manufacturer, has set up a brand new division to specialise in the external wall insulation market.

Kilsaran International will break new ground for the company, entering the walling sector as the Green Deal warms up throughout the UK and with all eyes on reducing the carbon footprint of a building. Kilsaran’s new division is the only authorised supplier of the global Ceresit branded EWI systems and mortars in the UK, and makes its debut at this year’s Ecobuild.

Environmental concerns and a recent hike in energy prices have contributed to the increase in awareness of effective and efficient insulation and the benefits this can offer to the property builder and dweller. With a focus on modern methods of construction, warmer, more cost and energy-efficient dwellings, wall insulation is experiencing a surge in specification popularity. Kilsaran is primarily targeting social housing architects and specialist developers with this range to aid in renovation and refurbishment to achieve improvements in the thermal efficiencies, durability and aesthetics of a building or home. Social housing, low and high rise, is expected to become Kilsaran’s largest market for the Ceresit ranges

The use of EWI is also fast increasing in the new build sector, particularly for budget driven schemes for new schools, academies, health and hotels. On the home front, private developers can also benefit from the cost and energy advantages of a system, which will increase the market value of any property. This trend is set to continue as the Green Deal takes effect and offers an affordable and manageable way for developers to make environmental investments in their properties.

Derry McKeown, director at Kilsaran International, commented: “We are the official, authorised partners in the UK representing this excellent brand. Well established in Europe and through us in Ireland, we saw the opportunity to bring the Ceresit EWI products to our UK customers, from an established company that they can trust.”

“Improving the energy efficiency of 26 million households in Britain is a major challenge for Government, for the construction sector and the insulation industry. Insulating houses externally using systems like Ceretherm™ Ceresit which we are introducing to the UK market at Ecobuild, helps reduce household energy costs, transforms the quality of old housing stock and contributes to the country’s carbon emission reduction targets.”

Anticipating a warm reception from the UK industry, Derry continued: “We are supporting this new venture with the appointment of Alan Hodge, in the role of sales director for the Ceresit arm of the company.

"Alan is very well respected as a leading expert in the construction and EWI industry, with decades of extensive experience in all things construction, most recently at Saint-Gobain Weber and before that the Eglinton Stone Group. He is responsible for EWI sales as well as specialist, technical mortars and bagged products.”

“Ceresit EWI systems transform the thermal performance of any building, with many advantages for construction professionals including a superior speed of installation by up to 30% leading to lower install costs, and higher surface impact resistance,” commented Alan Hodge.

“From my 15 years experience in the external wall insulation industry, in the UK, Ireland and overseas, I am certainly very impressed by the quality, range and application of the Ceresit brand. Ecobuild is the ideal launch platform for our new division, and I look forward to meeting up with social housing landlords, architects and contractors.”
