Fast-growing UK flooring contractor Avonline Flooring has won education sector flooring contracts totalling £2m in the past three months.

The contracts at three universities and four schools are the latest in a series of successes that have helped the company to triple its turnover in the past 12 months.

Operations director Rich Hale said: "Our success comes from our experience, credibility, stability and size, and an ability to offer sole supplier solutions to customers, even on very challenging projects. We can provide screeding, under-floor heating, carpet, wood and vinyl, as well as specialist solutions such as resin and sprung wood flooring, for a wide range of sectors from a single supplier.

"That is proving attractive to hard pressed project managers."

The recent education contract wins include the £500,000 screed board and flooring package to the 561 study rooms and ancillary buildings at Bath Spa University's development of student accommodation at the its Newton Park campus.

Avonline is working under main contractor Miller Construction on this second phase of the £70m development on the campus, which also includes a new academic building.

The new student residential accommodation will consist of individual ‘houses' for up to 10 students. Each house will include a shared kitchen/living space and en-suite bedrooms fitted to a very high standard, situated in a courtyard setting. Work on the residential development will begin in June and is scheduled for completion by September 2014.

New buildings will be erected as precast concrete frame with bathroom pods and 10 sq m bedrooms in five blocks up to five storeys.

The halls will also house a new refectory capable of seating up to 350 people and open to the whole University. A light brick, copper and glass façade will enclose the proposed refectory space. The project which is due to be completed in summer 2014.

And at Aberystwyth University Avonline Flooring won the £600,000 contract to provide and install flooring at £45m Balfour Beatty's programme to design, build and maintain accommodation for 1,000 students at a site next to the University's main campus.
